If what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall: QT for Sat Nov 25, 201, read 1 Cor 8;7

Though Paul knew about his own freedom about eating any food including food that has been offered to idols. He is sharing that he would refrain from eating those if there are some people around who might stumble into sin. What is more important than exercising our own freedom is edification for the brothers around;

· What could we observe the purpose God has granted us as we grow in Christ? See also Eph 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

· What could we observe about the way mature people give up their right/ freedom/comfort for the sake of young people around? See also 1 Thess 2:7-8 but we were gentle with you, like a mother caring for her little children. We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well because you had become so dear to us.

· What is God saying to you about your own attitude about the use of your right/freedom? See also 1 Cor 9:23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

· What is God saying to you about one thing you need to give up that your brother/sister might be blessed?

· How do you want to respond to His voice?

만일 음식이 내 형제를 실족하게 한다면 나는 영원히 고기를 먹지 아니하여 내 형제를 실족하지 않게 하리라: 2017, 11,25, 토, QT, 고전 8장을 읽으세요;

So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge: QT for Fri, Nov 24, 2017, read 1 Cor 8;

The followers of the Lord Jesus are not living for themselves/ their own blessing, but also edification for the people around, for the Lord Jesus has loved and died for them. Though we have been freed from sin and have knowledge of life following the truth from the scripture, we also have the rule to look after weaker brother’s conscience that might be wounded and stumbled.

· What could we observe about the call we received as we turned to Christ? Gal 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

· What is the Lord teaching us about the use of freedom in the context of a community of believers? See also Gal 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love

· What could we learn about life that honors God in terms of our relationship with people around? See also 1 Cor 10:32-33 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God–even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.

· What is one thing God is telling you to stop doing/ start doing in consideration of people around yourself?

· How do you want to carry it out in life?

그러면 네 지식으로 그 믿음이 약한 자가 멸망하나니 그는 그리스도께서 위하여 죽으신 형제라: 2017 11, 24, 금, QT, 고전 8장을 읽으세요;

Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block …: QT for Thu, Nov 23, read 1 Cor 8;

Paul is teaching two fundamentally important concepts about out life issues not only of the food we eat. It could be applied to drinking or use of anything that possibly causes doubt or questions in the mind of other believers. Though we have been freed from those we have been enslaved by before, we need to be careful that no one may get stumble because of our behavior;

· What could we observe about the sense of freedom we have been granted as we embraced the Lord Jesus? See also Rom 8:1-2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

· What could we learn about our own attitude toward other believers around? See also Rom 14:1-3 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. One man’s faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.

· What is the Lord warning us about our consideration of those who have a different degree of confidence? See also 1 Cor 10:23-24 “Everything is permissible”–but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”–but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

· What is one thing the Lord is asking you to consider stopping/doing for the sake of edification for believers around?

· How do you want to carry it out in life?

너희의 자유가 믿음이 약한 자들에게 걸려 넘어지게 하는 것이 되지 않도록 조심하라: 2017, 11, 23, 목, QT, 고전 8장을 읽으세요;

Some people… eat such food…as having been sacrificed to an idol, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled: QT for Wed 22, 2017, read 1 Cor 8;

We all have come from the past experiences that still impacts our thought pattern in a negative way. And unless we somehow grow out of its shade, have a tendency to go back to it or get impacted by such past paradigm that enslaves our thought as well as lift. Who could get rid of such trap of the past?

· What could we observe of the devil’s work through past sin or problem from the way Joseph’s brothers suffered from their past sin for decades? See also Gen 50: 15-18 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?” So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: ‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed to treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept. His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said.

· What is God saying that we could get out of the powerful impact of our past sin and problems? See also Act 20:32 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

· What does it mean to commit ourselves to the word of His grace to you?

· What is one negative impact on your past the Lord tells you to get established from? See also 2 Cor 5:16-17 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

· How do you want to respond to His voice that you may get free of such slavery?
