On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money, saving it up: QT for Fri Feb 2, 2018, read 1 Cor 16;

God is expecting the practice of regular setting aside & saving up the gift devoted to God that the church community would not need to make special effort occasionally or at a special occasion. Love and caring for the needy neighbors should be one of our regular and major concern as His people;

· What could we observe about the widespread of collection among the Gentile churches for the needy saints in Judea? See also Act 11:28-30 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea. This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

· What could we about the practice of early Christians about their caring for the needy saints from the example of Macedonian Christians? See also 2 Cor 8:1-4 And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.

· What makes the caring for the needy people around so important? Eph 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

· What is God saying to you about the practice of good work in your life?

· How do you want to respond to His voice?

If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you: QT for Thu, Feb 1, 2018, Read 1 Cor 16;

Paul introduces Timothy as well as Apollos to the community in Corinth that they might go for a visit to help them out. But he talks to them to welcome him in spite of his timid personality. For he helps the church that she may get benefit through his ministry while encourages Timothy and prepares him for the role he should play for the blessing of the community;

· What could we observe Paul’s intention from the way he introduces Timothy and Apollos? See also 1 Thess 3:2-3 We sent Timothy, who is our brother and God’s fellow workers spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. You know quite well that we were destined for them.

· What must he have done to Timothy while he encourages the church community to welcome him and let him work with them for their own blessing? See also 2 Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

· What is Paul trying to do that Timothy’s work might benefit them most? See also Rom 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

· What is God saying about the work of acceptance He has done for your sake?

· Whom do you want to accept for the glory of God as well as for your own blessing?

· How do you want to see it happening?

But I will stay on at Ephesus because a great door for effective work has opened to me: QT for Wed Jan 31, 2018, read 1 Cor 16;

Paul is seeing the opening of the great door of opportunity as well as the serious and dangerous opposition in Ephesus. Yet he plans to stick around Ephesus for the gospel. He ended up staying in Ephesus for three years and trained t of leaders/ workers for the gospel and impacted the whole Asia minor.

· What could we observe Paul’s zeal for the work from the way he didn’t pass up the great door opened up because of the dangerous opposition? See also Act 19:28-30 When they heard this, they were furious and began shouting: “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” Soon the whole city was in an uproar. The people seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul’s traveling companions from Macedonia, and rushed as one man into the theater. Paul wanted to appear before the crowd, but the disciples would not let him.

· What could we observe the impact of his work of three years in Ephesus? See also Act 19:9-10 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

· What is God telling you of your attitude for the persecution to suffer for the sake of His kingdom? See also Rom 8:16-17 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

· What is God saying to you to suffer that you may make an impact on the people around?

I will stay with you awhile, spend the winter so that you can help me on my journey I go: QT for Tue Jan 30, 2018, read 1 Cor 16;

Paul is planning for his travel through Macedonia and Corinth as well as Ephesus for the gospel. But he is not fixing his plan on his own, but let those people he would visit co-own his plan as well as the ministry. For, he wants to have them send himself where he should go next;

· What could we observe the beginning of Paul’s work in Corinth? See Act 18:1-4 After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

· What could we observe Paul’s intention as he travels for different individuals and churches? See also Rom 1:11-12 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong– that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

· What does he mean to have them send himself to the next destination on his journey? See also Phil 4:10, 14 I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last, you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.

· What is God saying to you about your relationship with someone he has brought into your path because of business or livelihood?

· What is God saying you need to see him/her get strengthened by yourself as Paul has done?

· How do you want to listen to His voice?

Each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up: QT for Mon, Jan 29, 2018, read 16;

God is asking everyone to make his mind concerning the gift he needs to offer God as he thinks about the income as well as the time of the giving. For God sees giving as part of our devotion to our heart for His glory

· What could we observe the importance of giving of each believer from the way Paul talks about every first day of the week to save up his gift to God? See also Mt 6:20-21

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

· What could we observe the seriousness of gift to God’s sight? See also Mal 3:8-10 “Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ “In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse–the whole nation of you–because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

· What is God promising to those who honor the Lord with his wealth and the first fruit of his crops? See also Pr 3:9-10 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
