The Lord Jesus is teaching toward the end of His earthly life about the judgment of the coming king. His criteria of evaluation and assessment would not be on people’s religious performance, but the way they got transformed of the values they hold He has taught from the beginning of His public ministry;
What could we observe the value the Lord Jesus passed on from the beginning of His public ministry? See also Mt 5:13-14 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
What could we observe how early Christians passed on those values for a new life with the gospel? See also 1 Thess 1:5-6 because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.
What could we observe the way God watches the way one lives during the life He grants them? See also Heb 6:10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

God was sick and tired of the religious game of Judah, His people. For they were interested in carrying out meaningless religious practice without living out the justice before God who wants His values permeate their culture as well as their tradition;
What could we observe God’s attitude toward their religious practice without heart in God’s kingdom? See also Isa 29:13 The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.
What could we observe the heart of God as He accuses the way His people bent on meaningless religious practice with God’s justice abandoned? See also Mt 23:23 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices–mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law–justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

The scribe who tried to test the Lord Jesus with question saw that the Lord Jesus emphasized the love for God and the neighbor and praised Him. But in reality, they still hung unto the tradition’s practice rather than heart relationship with God. They also tripped the Lord Jesus not for His teaching they agreed, but His heartful worship in life, not in the practice of the tradition;
What could we observe the heart of God from the way He emphasizes obedience to Him, not offering sacrifice? See also 1 Sam 15:22 But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD ? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
What could we observe the focus of the Lord’s teaching on the love for God? See also 1 Jn 4:20-21
If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

God is reminding those Israelites of the way God led them through the desert for forty long years. He humbled them as they went through the hostile environment as they even suffer hunger and thirst until God came into their aide. God taught them how to live as God’s people;
What could we observe the way God gave promise for the provision for their need? See also Ex 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.
What could we observe how God turned bitter water into sweet water they could drink as Moses cried out to the Lord? See also Ex 15:25 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them.
What does it mean to live on ‘every word coming from the mouth of the Lord’ to you? See also Jn 10: 27-28 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.

Apostle saw himself as a servant of God equipped with the gift to work for the Lord in His field. Though he did his role, he gave God credit for the growth that took place. But, he knew the reward that God would provide according to the work he has done for Him;
What could we observe the purpose the Lord Jesus had as He came into our lives? See also Jn 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
What could we observe the way the Lord worked in us through His servants for the growth He wanted to see in us? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
